Random question, but I've always been curious:

I don't wear lace-front wigs so I don't know anything about this. But from what little I have seen, it seems like there is so much work that goes into making them look "natural" and like the hair is really coming from your head.

How much work does this take every morning? Are you really spending close to an hour on your hair? Or is there a speedier way of doing it once you're used to it?

I've seen youtube videos of people gluing the lace down and using makeup to blend it into their skin color - but maybe they're just being extra.

Got it! The video I was watching was not a frum person, so I suppose that explains a lot. Thank you!

Using makeup to blend- sometimes, it only takes a minute.
Gluing- I don’t think that’s something people do everyday. More like a hairstylist will glue it for an event.

Must be African American women. No frum woman is gluing it down lol
Some probably do use make up.
Like the previous poster, I just put it on. Mine is lace top and lined.

Oh he!! No. I told my sheitel macher that I want to plop it on my head and be done.
I comb it (brush it) after wearing before I put it on the head. That's probably the most effort I do. I put on a grip band and the sheitel on top. Done

The women who glue it down actually wear it for several days straight. I once chatted with some ladies from this other culture that is known to wear wigs as well. It was very funny that we had something in common.

How is the lowest option 5 mins🤣
It takes as long as it takes to put on any shaitel. As in 5 seconds

Only the black community has that kind of wigs, and they wear them for a month straight At least

I'm a public school teacher and when I tell my colleagues how much wigs cost they can't believe it

Curious why "this other culture" wasn't named?
