My laundry is out of hand. My kids are getting older. It's a new season. I want to change things up. I have my girls in a jack and Jill room that share 1 dirty laundry double hamper. I have my boys in 1 large bedroom using a second double hamper. I mix laundry be type and all clean laundry goes in 1 clean basket and gets dumped onto an extra bed in another bedroom. Because it's too hard for my kids to sift through a clean laundry hamper and take their clothes. I need my kids to take more accountability of their clothing I'm thinking of buying the kids 2 unattached hampers each. 1 for clean, 1 for dirty this way I can separate the clothes out of the dryer. and have 1 extra dirty hamperfor clothing that they may reware. Like hooded sweaters. Together with delicate shabbos clothes and suit jackets. This way each kid is more responsible for their clean and dirty laundry. Would such a system work? Any ideas of non bulky, easy plastic wash laundry hampers. Medium size?

Have you tried sorting loads by the child/ren?
This way you don't have to sort after it's washed bc it's all 1 or 2 child's clothes.
If you want to minimize laundry time, skip the folding where you can - have a sock drawer and an underwear drawer etc.

You can do 1 room at a time & bring it right back to the room when done. Use color catcher sheets when you can & only sort out things like white shirts & anything really nice like maybe shabbos clothes.

If kids are old enough I would have them put everything away before going to sleep. My 8yo can do that easily.

How should I divide the laundry. This is currently how I divide the loads.

1× week
Everyone's velour sleepwear+girls shabbos robes
Whites everyone's whites shabbos shirts oxford uniform shirts+white underwear I use oxy for this load
3x week
Cotton colored sweatshirts, t-shirts leggings cotton pajamas ,
Sweaters-boys shabbos +girls usually a very small load
Boys and Girls pants and tights girls and boys pants and skirts.

If I dump laundry on the bed they usually take their clothes and sort it into their draw . Slowly through the week if I buy a basket I hope the bed would get emptied quicker because it would be easier to bring to their room

I wash by children, two children share a basket.
I divide:
anything that goes in the dryer
anything that gets hung
white shabbos shirts

then clothing gets put back into basket from dryer. it’s only two kids sharing so not such a big deal if not sorted and folded. goes back in the room they sleep in.
hanging clothes go into same basket or if on hangers already, back into closets.

white shabbos shirts get washed as a family once a week

I wash each set of baskets three times in two weeks. (every 4-5 days)
