Small things, not great things, are demanded from us. In our generation, the generation of the heels of Moshiach, and even up to the heels of the heels of Moshiach*, the matters left seem minor, and there are small sparks still out there to be elevated. Small matters are demanded from us that are easy to accomplish and fulfill. But still, these small matters have been given to us in a rough time, a time of great concealment and redoubled darkness when we hear the footsteps of Moshiach.
* “heels of Moshiach” refers to the very last phase before Moshiach is revealed.
-Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, Parshat Veira, from Torat Menachem, part 1 page 181

“Then (in the days of Moshiach) iron will no longer serve to cut short the days of man ch”v, s is written (Yeshayahu 2:4) “And they will beat their swords into plougshares, etc.” Furthermore, the concept of the opposite of life will be nullified, and as is written in Midrash (Tanchuma, end of Parshas Yitro): Years are shortened through the evil inclination, but in the Future to Come, “death will be swallowed forever, and G-d will wipe away the tears from every face.”
-Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, Parshas VaYechi 5752
