A good rule of thumb:
Never assume anything is assur. Find yourself a reliable posek who you are comfortable speaking with and ask him whether or not x, y or z is permissible.
This will not only save you lots of heartache, but it will save us all the trouble of reading threads created for the sole purpose of telling you something isn't necessarily assur thereby spawning thread after thread tangentially related to the original topic.
And spread the word to all of your friends!
