What is "practical kabbalah"?

I googled it and at quick glance it sounds nuts and not at all like Judaism, and it might even be forbidden by halacha. But then again, I didn't read up about it thoroughly.

My view is that the select people who are actually familiar with this in an authentic way should not be advertising their services to the public.
