I've always gone with:
Mix equal parts mayo, honey and mustard.
Smear the mixture on the puff pastry dough.
Add 2 types of deli and roll.
Bake and enjoy!

I do it in loaf pans | Interesting, I never saw that done before. Does it still get crispy all over?

The easiest, yummiest one I make:
Mix equal parts duck sauce and mustard.
Spread on puff pastry. Line pastry with two types of deli (pick your favorite). Roll jelly roll style. Seal open edge with a little duck sauce or by brushing whole roll with beaten egg for a nicer luck. Can also sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake until golden (usually around 30 minutes).
Good luck!

I only made it a few times, its not always crispy on bottom, but I recently tried making individual turnovers with this recipe, and I turned each one over when the tops were done (pun not intended)..Came out good but is a little annoying.
Also - I brush the top with duck sauce and it really adds.
