The public schools were I live are uninformed schools so everyone is wearing the same things

Maya, lot has changed in the public school system in the last 80 years since your grandfather ( and my grandmother) went to public school in Hungary. I work with families who are in the public school system (parents went, and now kids are in). They all curse. They dress very not tzniusly (tank tops), watch TV all the time, many have tried drugs. ALL kids have some form of ipad/tablet, with full internet access (that they automatically expect the parents to fund).
I personally don't want my kids in that kind of environment. I imagine most frum people don't.
