There is no prohibition to cooking,
BUT
If you derive pleasure, from doing this, then I would wait
If it's just a task that needs to get done then it's ok
You can't oil your hand though

In the age of Tisha B'Av kumzitzes, inspirational shiurim, and videos, that ship has long ago sailed.

Right, Tischabav Kumsitz was introduced into my Schul a few years ago. I didn't go so I dont know what they do, maybe they just sit around in a circle and listen to Divrei Torah, but the idea of communal singing, which is what a Kumsitz normally is, even if it's all mournful tunes, seems bizarre. When my kids were in Day Camp they used to have a Nine Days Concert(!). Yes, a Concert. By professional singers. All Al Naharos Bovel and quotes from Eichoh set to mournful music with no instrumental accompaniment but it still seemed wrong.

Kumzitz?? I would never go.
I go for sad and classic. I don't watch Schindler's list either, despite reading it's the new thing to do.
