Like Hillary Clinton's private email server, there's a scandal -- just not the one you think (e.g., the real scandal is the seriously outdated technology at the State Department).
The question at Snopes is not simply about individual editors with agendas, but rather, who is in charge; where the money comes from; where the money goes; and who ultimately sets the standards.

I didn't vote because it's a little of column a and some of column b.
I generally use snopes for debunking the "latest" scare that's nothing more than a recycled urban legend that's been around for years.
I generally would not use them for anything else (news, politics, historical events, etc).
