Well this is a novel way to serve latkes - little cups baked in muffin pans that are then filled with the toppings of your choice - or perhaps leave it to the end user and provide a choice. LOL Kind of like French Vol-au-vent pastry shells but for some reason I associate those with British foods rather than French.

I haven't made this yet

You have the best recipes!
(But what makes it a Latka and not a kugel if it is not fried?)
(Same question goes for everyones waffle recipes and baked donuts?)

LOL LOL

Yes no oil so not technically symbolic - but if one can always use as a supplement especially since frying latkes for a crowd is sometimes hard on the chef. I still remember my poor mother at the stove and the latkes being eaten before she could even start on a new batch.

Just wanted to add that I posted a recipe for a latke baked in a waffle iron so it is a waffle latke. LOL

You actually fry the waffle just before serving so it would qualify as something fried but novel.

Latkes fresh from the pan are the best and only way to eat latkes. So I only serve them at home to my family and no guests. Sometimes at my sil house we all take turns over the pan.The same goes for bbq. Kabob needs to be fresh off the grill.

If I'm serving a crowd and want to fulfil the oily food minhag. I do fresh hot delicious BREAD dipped in olive oil. Olive oil with zahatar. Olive oil with sumac. Olive oil and garlic. Olive oil and parmesan. My children looooove to dip in olive oil. Sometimes they make a meal out of oil and bread and salad.
