Alternative to egg to glaze challah

I am trying to go as egg-free as possible due to possible egg allergies. What can I use instead of egg to glaze my water challah?

oil and garlic Smile gives a nice shien and a good taste.. but dont know if it will clash if its really sweet challah

I also use oil and garlic and make homemade garlic bread, first cut up raw garlic into small pieces then heat up some canola oil in frying pan add the garlic till brown.

Roll ou tthe dough put garlic in the dough roll up the dough. Brush the top of the dough with the oil that is left, also put on some of the garlic flakes (the spice) on top of the oil.

It comes out really yummy.

You can also do the same thing with onions by the way and make home made onion rolls and onioin bread.

Enjoy!!!

For a less egg trick use 2 eggs and the rest egg whites in every recipie, works like a charm!!!

I use oil and sugar, it gives it a nice crunch and taste.

Someone once posted about using coffee and water solution for nice color.

I've used just water and it works. Don't know how it compares w. the yummy-sounding things like oil and garlic. YUM!
