I have to take my child to a doctor htat has offices in Lake Success or Hewlett. Can anyone tell me of any good parks, amusements etc within 5 miles of either where my dh can take my older kid meanwhile?

There's a nice mini golf place near Lake Success in New Hyde Park. I've also been to an ice skating rink in nearby Great Neck.
Let me know if you need more details and I'll ask DH about them (I'm not so familiar with that area).

In Lynbrook (near Hewlett) I've heard that there's a fun-zone type of place as well. A little pricey, though.

How old are your kids?

There's a Chuckie Cheese in the area. Check out their website for the exact address.

There is Grant Park in Hewlett - if the weather is nice, its a great park.

There's a Pump it Up in both Cedarhurst (near Hewlett) and Great Neck (near Lake Success). Not sure exactly where you're going, but check out Pump it Up's website for exact distances.
