My daughter has woken up the last three mornings with a nose that had been bleeding. She already sleeps with a humidifier so her room is not so dry. I really do not know what to do to help her not wake up with a bloodied nose.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Humidifier is a very good idea, also try a saline nose spray before bed.

maybe it's too hot in the room, I get nosebleeds often and it helps to put vaseline in my nose before I go to sleep. if it continues, I would get it checked out by a doctor because recurring nosebleeds can be a sign of something more serious

Ditto talking to her pediatrician, may be a deviated septum or the blood vessel in a right spot. I think there are procedures that deal with that.
My dd age 6 has frequent nosebleeds. She has this tiny nose, runs in my dh's family, along with the nosebleed issue. A relative told me there's something to do to help prevent nosebleeds, I'm planning on checking it out.

her nasal veins are sensitive - use hemorrhoid ointment to keep the swelling down ...
if this becomes a constant issue - an ent specialist can cauterize the veins that bleed ... a quick office procedure

I did already tell my daughter, 5 1/2, that if she woke up with a body nose again we would go to the doctor, so I guess we shall see tomorrow morning.

Also the bleeding is usually stopping by the time she wakes up. It's all over her face and a little bit wet when she wakes up, but not gushing anymore. But no swelling.

unless she was punched in the nose - when a nose bleeds, it's the veins inside that are swollen ... are you looking up her nasal passages ?
if you don't believe me take her to a pediatric Ear Nose Throat specialist ...

She might need her blood vessel cortorized. A painless 2 min procedure done by an ent. My dd had frequent nosebleeds and I solved it by giving her bio flavonoid -1/2 tsp 2x a day and pantothenic acid 1 tsp 2x a day.

my daughter looked like she was straight out of a horror movie every time her nose would bleed ... until an ent cauterized the vein that was the culprit
some kids/people have more dried up nasal mucus than others & you need to teach her to clean out her nose with water ... moisturize her inner passages ... keep a humidifier in her room ... to prevent the nose bleeds

I got cauterized (sp???) twice. Once as a child, in these times it was still a red hot iron. Don't ask.
Second time as a teen, new method, no pain just lots of mucus afterwards.

My daughter had this happen last year and she would bleed a LOT. Turned out she needed the heater lower. If we keep our heat below a certain temp at night she's fine, but if the heat hits that number or higher it results in a major bloody nose for her.
I'd recommend turning your thermostat down at least 5 degrees tonight and see if that helps.

The weather has been exceptionally dry here over the last few days. Drier than a humidifier can keep up with. Pray for rain. My guess is it'll resolve when the dryness passes.
In the meantime, increase her fluids.

My DH has been having nosebleeds lately. it may be time to cauterize it again. He had it done 3 times so far over the years.
Like the other poster said use a humidifier, put Vaseline in the nose and go to an ENT.

Thank you. I was going to wait one more day to see what happens and then go to the doctor.

She has had it on in her room for at least the last month and a half. It only started two or three mornings ago.
I guess part of the problem is that she hs not figured out how to blow her nose, so she definitely has a full nose sometimes.

I'd recommend turning your thermostat down at least 5 degrees tonight and see if that helps. | As I wrote in my second post, our hear is not on at all at night in our house, so this is not an issue at all.
