I get whole chickens cut up. Usually I make the tops into schnitzels, but my kids really prefer chicken "on the bone". Since here buying just bottoms is so expensive, I am looking for a way to cook the tops with the bottoms or the tops alone. We mostly eat this on Shabbos, so something without a sauce would be best. Or is there a way to do teh whole chicken? WOuld that be better?
Thanks

I love this recipe.

I use olive oil instead of butter/margarine, and garlic powder together with the onion powder.
Btw, many, many (most) recipes that are supposedly just for bottoms can be used for tops as well! It's a matter of taste.

my favorite whole chicken recipe:
paprika
garlic powder
onion powder
cayenne pepper (not a ton)
pour these on the chicken and rub in all the crevices. bake breast side down for two hours, uncovered, 350 degrees.

I cook both tops and bottoms together with any recipe we like. No reason not to.

My husband makes the best chicken ever. I keep telling him he should put out a cookbook lol. It would consist of 2 recipes:
Recipe #1:
1 whole chicken, cut up
granulated garlic
hot paprika
seasoned salt
Sprinkle over chicken and bake uncovered for exactly one hour. Comes out perfect and deliciously moist EVERY time - even the tops. (In an American oven, it may need a little longer.)
Recipe #2:
1 whole chicken, cut up
granulated garlic
salt
pepper
Same instructions as first recipe.
If you want to *really* dress it up, you can pour some lemon juice over the chicken.
