Your birthday should be a day we celebrate,
But your loss has been our painful fate.
So much to share in the little time
you've been gone.
Even as death - we both knew - was
lurking about inevitably;
Your humour, your charm, & your ability
to be real to me & I to you
will always be a cherished gift.
