I'm supposed to whip it until stiff. I turned away from it for a minute and I come back to what looks like butter and water. It seems like the cream separated. Help! I need to make a dairy frosting out of it. What should I do?

Didn't work. Only put more to waste.
I started over.
Is there anything I can make the separated cream?

Anything else? It's like real butter. I think that's why I couldn't fix it.

It sounds like it was really over-whipped as usually it just curdles. I don't think it can be fixed so use as a liquid for something. Maybe it can work mixed with eggs and cheese in a baked quiche.

Mazal tov you made butter! Spread it on a bagel
When I was a kid we would beg my mom to buy the small containers of heavy cream. Then go home and shake shake shake! Eventually it would separate and create fresh butter!

Real dairy buttercream! You can still frost your cake with it.

Or butter ganache, if you were looking to make chocolate frosting- it's heavenly on ice cream and would work on many cakes.

Strain off the water. Add a few dashes of garlic salt, and mix in well. Drain off any more water that comes off of it.Eat it on toast! I love garlic bread.
If you like baking, it will make wonderful cinnamon rolls. Use in place of oil. Butter bread is the BEST.
Save aside some of the butter, melt it and add powdered sugar. Now you have icing for your cinnamon rolls.
Dang it, now I'm hungry!
