So I am really excited and grateful to Hashem! I just found out that I am expecting a girl!!! After quite a few boys Smile
So I want to think of a really special name...

One name I LOVE is Chaviva. dh says he likes it too, but doesnt love it.

Does anyone know where Chaviva comes from? What exactly does it mean? And how uncommon is it?
One of my sons always complains that his name is very uncommon and he thinks its weird. Does Chaviva seem weird? It totally doesnt seem weird to me, but I need to hear other opinions too. Thanks

Next, other ideas please, thanks so much!

It is a beautiful name- it means dearly beloved (from chaviv), it is not common at least in my opinion....I can only think of a handful of chavivas....not a reason not to name a name you love

similar names- Ahuva, Adina, Ahava

Thanks, somehow I dont like Ahuva but I love Chaviva.

Why are you not a fan? is it just personal taste (just like I dont like Ahuva Smile )?

My close relative’s name is Chaviva and it embodies her personality so perfectly - she is so classy, beautiful, soft spoken, beloved by everyone!

Not sure...
dh loves Tehila, but I dont like it so much

I also like Batsheva, Hadassa, but not many more.
After choosing names for boys, girls names seem to be fewer to choose from!

I also have a family member who I really should name for, maybe as a second name, because it is an unusual Yiddish name. But really undecided about that.

I love the name chaviva! I wanted to use it when we had girl #5. But my husband only likes to use names with a source in tanach. I only know one chaviva so definitely not a common name. But I don't think that is weird at all.

I also like the name Chaviva better than Ahuva, although Ahuva is certainly more popular.

So I don’t like Chaviva at all, since you asked.

Seems like everyone on the board likes names. Ending with a “a” why?

How about a Yiddish name! Zeesel, aka ZC which means sweetness.

Hebrew name Vered, Varda which is rose.

Chaviva is a beautiful name! And not weird. The only difficulty I see is spelling it in English so it gets pronounced right, so consider using Haviva on the birth certificate.
