I feel like once a week is reasonable to have a friend over after school. DD wants more but it takes a lot out of me. Is it fair to her if I limit it to once a week?

How old?
What about it do you find hard?
Does she have neighbors to play with on other days?
I cant tell you once a week is unreasonable. But whether yoi should push yourself for dds sake depends in your answers a 5 year old os different than a 10 year old.

What does a play date take out of you? I was always so happy when my child was younger, when there were play dates at our home. It kept said child occupied and I didnt have to do anything. So what part of the play date is hard for you?

How old is your daughter? Does she also go to friends or friends only go to her?

What is the context in terms of age of your daughter.
Once kids are in elementary school, they are generally less trouble with friends than when they are on their own. They go to their room and play or talk depending on their age.
Toddlers obviously require adult supervision.
The concern would be how much time your daughter has after school as most kids have enough homework so that having friends over frequently is moot since there isn't enough time.

My DDs play with neighbors after school. BH
On shabbos or Sunday we do friends off the block
