Probably a virus... not much dr can do!
Do not send to babysitter.
If your baby is on solids already, give rice cereals and bananas.
(How old is your baby?)

How can you tell the difference between a virus and teething toddler? I am a babysitter and parents always use the excuse of teething. I never know if it’s really a virus or teething. Kids are average 18m.

Shigella only need abx if kid is in pain or not eating. If it's just diaharrea you don't yavr to give. The body can take care of it. But it might take a long time. (According to my ped.) I did give abx my kis was in pain and not eating, but beware the taste is TEERRRRIBLE. So be warned.

If I were you, I’d say no diarrhea for any reason. Because it’s probably just that- an excuse. And there’s no way to know.

did the baby take an antibiotic? My baby had this during a course of antibiotics. I stopped early with the dr.'s approval.
