This isnt a huge deal but my husband and I dont know when or how to present the following to our employer:
We will be moving within the next two months IY"H depending on when we get everything together. We both work for the same company doing different things. I'm paid a salary, my husband gets paid on comission.
My dilema is: I cant get fired for leaving just yet, we still need the income until we move. At the same time, it isnt right to tell the company last minute either. So whens a good time, and what do we say? Do we start by saying were thinking of moving and then a week later say its definite? Or do we just say were leaving in one or two months and thats it?

Do you have a contract? If you do it will tell you how much notice you have to give.

It also depends on what size company you work for, if you are the only employees versus 2 out of 500.

No contract, I'm doing office work plus a little more. Another thing is my boss is very stressed because we just switched offices. So on top of that me leaving... I dont know how or when to break the news.

I would tell him I'm considering moving, and a week later tell him it's definite. Better hope his wife (or him!) don't read these forums.

I would tell them. If you get fired, it'll be ok for you too. You can then file for unemployment. He wont' fire you! If he needs you for the next couple of months, he'll be appreciative that you told him.
Even if he doesnt need you, everytime you file for unemployment, chances are their unemployment taxes/rates whatever go up.
If he's nice and fair to you, tell him. If not, why worry so much??? Give him the standard 2 week notice.

Tell them at the last minute if you can't afford to risk losing a paycheck. Are they yiddishe? If they are maybe they will understand you need the money and not dump you. If they are non jews they probably won't care.

LOL, they arent Jewish so thank G-D they're not on here
I think I'll do that- tell them were thinking about it and then tell them we're out.
