I've found that if you want some really good Ebay deals, search by common misspellings. They don't show up in regular searches, so they will have little or no bids.
If you want a sparkly dress, search for "sequence" (sequins). "Satan" (satin) is a good one, too.

Me neither. But I can't wait to use it when the opportunity next arises!

OMG, I hate that term. I don't even understand it, and don't want to click on the link to find out if there's any etymology.
Of my many current pet peeves, "rediculous"
Shuddering

My pet peeve on this site is "could of" "would of" instead of could've /would've.
I sometimes wish I could print out some posts to use as examples for my students of how many people are so ignorant of basic grammar rules/spelling rules.
Now wouldn't imamother make the greatest , most interesting grammar book ever?
We'd have every student doing her
( not their!!!!!) work !

So I can't spell, but I can tell the difference between "defiantly" and "definitely". I've rewritten words to get the right thing to come up on spell check before...

I was hoping this thread was about pets.
It's a waste of energy to be peeved.
Just edit other's mistakes in your head and move on.
Hear what they have to say, not exactly how they're saying it.

I never heard of it until I heard my now 14 year old niece say it. She started when she was 12 as far as I know. My kids don't hear these crazy words .

I don't mind when people flaunt linguistic rules so long as they no what their doing and are doing it purposefully.

Chani8, the next time I get a pet, I promise you I'll name it "Peeve".
It's hard to just "look past it", when I spent years as a proofreader and copy editor. Autocorrect is ruining the English language, and I don't like having to reread things in order to figure out what the heck is going on (although some of the corrections are pretty darn funny. 'Sedarim' gets changed to 'sidearm'. That's a pretty dangerous Pesach!)

A magazine article that mentions "Satin Lives" graffiti.

Figured I shouldn't start a new thread when some good recent ones abound:
Please type just a mere two more letters if you choose to shorten refrigerator. Make it fridge, as opposed to the other word. Thank you.

Hm, the closest I can get to finding a color in refrigerator or fridge is red. Not sure what you mean. (Or if you know what I meant.)
But of course, the world might be a better place if you would so don't let me stop you
