A prescriptive easement arises if someone uses part of your property without your permission. Has anyone fought a legal battle regarding this in New York or is familiar with lawyers who specialize in this area of law?

if a piece of property is being used and nobody says anything for I think its somewhere bet 5 & 10 years ... I understand that it becomes property of the user ... every state is different I'm sure ...
