I also feel like I just don't GET it. For myself I don't care, I buy what I like. But for my 15 year old, we both just don't have a knack for it and it ends up bothering her when the season begins. And for those saying wait to shop till the season begins, those items are sold out.

my daughter is wondering if her shabbos dresses from last year will be outdated - one is floral with pleats and one is patterned (sort of florally, but not actually floral) tiered maxi style. also, are her denim/tencel tiered maxi skirts still in?

Go to fameoncentral.com. Thats what I do. I don't really gravitate to the trends and am like you in that I totally miss the new thing. But I tell myself that whatever they have isn't hopelessly outdated. So I buy some stuff from them and also use it as a guideline.
