Our cleaning lady only takes checks. We use it for things like that. Not regularly, but occasionally.

I still have a checking account and do have checks.

I do pay some stuff out of my checking account but it is either taken out automatically or I pay on line.

I use Zelle and Venmo for transactions often.

However there are some situations in which I need to pay by check - when I have a plumber or other type of home maintenance business come, they want payment in checks. I guess they don't want to deal with credit cards.

Here in Israel most of those type of businesses take things like bit and paybox or if they dont have those, I get their bank details and we do a direct deposit.

Israel is more technologically forward than the US.

It is easier to just give them a check - I have a lifetime supply of checks.

I don't want to deal with getting their information and making sure it is absolutely correct so that it isn't sent to the wrong place.

Yes, for wedding gifts, car mechanic, backyard camps and in house babysitters and playgroups. I also pay some bills by epay which is a check sent by the bank. Mostly for doctors who I would have to call to pay by credit card or set up an account. It’s easier for me to just click on the computer then call during business hours.
More and more people are taking zelle like babysitters and plumbers but not always.

I use checks for Tzedakah. We have a separate Maasar account to which 10% of both of our paychecks gets directly deposited. When meshulachim come to the door, we give checks from that account. It makes it much easier to keep track.

I give wedding and bar mitzvah gifts in check. But that also works because I get physical invitations in the mail and respond with a physical response card, and I include a check.

I pay tuition with checks.
My schools (multiple) don't have the option of electronic banking. It's a choice of check, cash, or credit card with a 2-3% fee (depending on the school). Of all those options, I choose checks.

It's a generation thing (I think) here in the US.
I'm 40. Im comfortable using checks but I'll also use Zelled/QuickPay if it's an option.

My parents/in-laws ONLY use checks. All bills, all gifts. I think my MIL still uses checks at the grocery store and Target.

My younger siblings who are 22-27 don't even own a checkbook. Everything is electronic.

Me, I'm in the middle. My schools are technologically behind so I use checks. Once I'm using checks, sometimes I'll pay my utilities with a check and sometimes electronically depends on my mood

My local mikvah still takes checks, and so does my DD's school.
I recently put a deposit on a wedding hall for DD, by check.

So I don't use checks that much anymore, but yes, here and there I do.

My DH grew up in a country which you'd think was less technologically advanced than the US and he is shocked at some of the things we still have that they don't anymore, especially the extremely outdated government processes.

Absolutely nobody uses checks anymore where he's from.
