Did anybody find c'y kefir grains in the US? I'm in Baltimore and I can't even find c'y kefir as a starter.

Just out of curiosity what are kefir grains?

If it's a grain can't you just cut it from the ground before it goes into any milk pot?

Kefir grains are not actual grains, they look like cauliflower that grows in the milk. This is from google: "Kefir grains are the living symbiotic colonies of yeast and bacteria that convert milk in to the probiotic powerhouse that is milk kefir. As the kefir grains digest the lactose in the milk, they create that tangy, creamy taste and texture that makes milk kefir what it is."
Just like sourdough starter it needs to be fed regularly. It needs lactose to survive. My rabbi told us we can use the 3rd generation of kefir and it will be ch'y kosher
