It's certainly explains the name hinda. Why would you name your child chicken??

I also thought Hun or Hin is the word for chicken. Maybe Hindel is a dimunitive (little chicken?) as pronounced in chassidish yiddish?

Ayelet is possessive.

But it also has a different usage, like in Ayelet Hashachar.

We checked this for my daughter, called Hinda after a grandmother.

Hinda means a deer, sometimes spelled Hinde. Comes from a German dialect (she was from Frankfurt)
Hindel means a chicken, sometimes spelled Hendel. comes from a Polish dialect.

We don't do Hebrew from Yidish so we called her Hinda. But many other children called after her are Ayala.

Ayelet means "the deer of."

Grammatically there should be another word after it, like Ayelet Hashachar - the deer of the dawn - which is referring to the way the sunrise spreads out on the horizon like a deer's antlers.

OP you posted this as a PSA, as in everyone who is/has an ayala from a hinda is wrong. Maybe you should change that. No need to freak people out for no reason (like me).

I don`t know the sources behind it, but Hinda, Hindel, and Hendel are all different names. My sister is called Hindel הינדל not Hinda. Most Hindels and Hindas are called Hindy but the name behind it is different. And Hendy is not the same.

Thanks everyone for chiming in! Seems I was mistaken in thinking that Hinda and Hindel are related names.
Seems that Hinda is Ayala and Hindel is chicken

I want to edit OP to reflect the correction of my mistake in thinking Hinda and Hindel are the same while at the same time not make it comfusing for someone reading this thread by removubg the beginning of this conversation. Any suggestions hoe to do so?
