Slave labor, you are their product, basically you get what you pay for.

I’ve compared prices and temu is in line with Ali and shein.
I don’t download apps for these places because of spyware risks, but they’re not stealing your credit cards. Sheesh.

The concern is not that the site is stealing your credit card. It's that they don't keep their website/databases so safe, and if they get hacked, the hacker has access to your information now. Shein had a huge data breach last year in October. Not sure what was involved, but that's really the risk we would be talking about. A site like Amazon or Nordstrom will be keeping top security practices to safeguard their customers' data

Because they don't pay for quality control or safety testing. Because they use cheap materials no matter what chemicals they contain.
Same for Ali and Shein.

Exactly why I never shop from these places. Not to mention the slave/child labor. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I can't bring myself to dress my child in something a 10 year old girl assembled in sweatshop conditions

I bought something on Wish.com and then the seller tried to buy an S21 smartphone with my info! Thankfully Wells Fargo is quick on the pickup and let me know but what if they hadn't? I would've been out $1K!

As if Google isn't selling your info...they know everything about you literally, but maybe they're just not selling it to the Chinese, and maybe they are...and Apple too...
My friend was TALKING to family members about let's say a certain car - next thing ads for that car are popping up on her phone - nope, she never googled it on her phone, so yes, the cooler your smartphone is the more they know about you.
Now maybe we can use this to understand the Mishna in Pirkei Avos...

The Bottom Line
The question "is Temu legit" is presently ubiquitous on the internet thanks to Temu's aggressive ad buys, its apparent comfort at operating at a loss, and its flashy low prices. On the one hand, you will likely be able to buy and eventually receive cheap products that are similar to the products advertised on its site. In that sense, the website is "legit."
On the other hand, the methods Temu's parent company uses, including its open disregard for privacy regulation and its desire to cheat its competition and harvest personal data for profit, are extremely concerning to U.S. security regulators. While there is presently no evidence that Temu itself is malware, the corporate history and business ethics of PDD Holdings makes these concerns legitimate, as well.

1000000% true. Basically there's no way to stay anonymous online. For sure your phone, alexa, whatever are listening and storing the information (think about it. If it hears you when you say "alexa" that means it's listening all the time in case you say it)
Google and Apple are bound by American laws in terms of what they can do with you information and if they were selling it to the Chinese, we would hear about it (Zuckerberg got in biiiiiig trouble with the govt stuff like this)
So yea, if your goal if for no one to have your info, sorry but were living in the 21st century and that's just not possible
If you don't want China and Iran having your info, there are ways to try to keep yourself safe
