---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ants go marching one by one hora hora
the ants go marching one by one hora hora
the ants go marching one by one, the little one stops to suck his thumb,
and they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain, boom boom boom
the ants go marching two by two.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bear went over the mountain, the bear went over the mountain the bear went over the mountain to see what he can see, to see what he can see..........
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
99 bottles of beer on the wall 99 bottles of beer if one of the bottles just happen to fall 98 bottles of beer on the wall....(on the bus to camp, or any long way)

yes my ears hang.....

this one continues:
do your eyeballs droop
do they wobble in your soup
can you ... them in a loop
can you ... them in a hoop
can you throw them over your shoulder
like a continental soldier

I just don't remember the missing words there

what about all these songs that had hand-choreography, and ended with FREEZE, like:

miss sue 1 2 3
miss sue 1 2 3
miss sue from alabama
sitting on a rocker
eating bread and cracker
watching the clock go
tick tock
tick tock, the dominator (?!)
tick tock
tick tock, the dominator
a b c d e f g
wash those spots right off from me
mootcha mootcha mootcha FREEZE

or

I am a pretty little dutch girl
as pretty as pretty as can be
and all the boys around my block...
(when I was a kid, these words meant nothing to me, but as I'm saying it along while typing, I don't understand how our parents let us sing it).

or

miss lucy had a baby
she named him tiny tim
she put him in the bathtub
to see if he could swim

he drank up all the water
he ate up all the soap
he tried to eat the bathtub
but it wouldn't go down his throat

miss lucy called the doctor
miss lucy called the nurse
miss lucy called the lady with the alligator purse

in came the doctor
in came the nurse...

"hello," said the doctor...

"a needle," said the doctor...

"operation," said the doctor

"good bye," said the doctor...FREEZE

and here are some for the americans among us:
new hampshire, new york
and massachusetts too,
connecticut, rhode island
to mention just a few
pennsylvania, new jersey
and virginia
maryland, delaware
carolina and georgia

these are the colonies
thirteen in all
all of them were under british control

or

there was a king of england
george the third was he
he tried to rule america
from far across the sea
but when advisors told him
freedom was the thing
he shook a mighty fist and said
I'll show them who's the king

liberty and freedom
that was the call
independence for the colonies
for one and for all

does anyone remember how it continues?

I like coffee
I like tea

likes me.

Don't remember the begining but it ends

In came the teacher with the big fat stick

Spell cat CAT

hands down
turn arpound and touch the ground
George Washington ran around the corner
How many apples did he pick.....

Motek, thank you for this thread. it showed me how very impressionable kids are and what they will remember for the next 50+ years Exclamation

and im sure you know "the ants go marching one by one hurrah hurrah," are you sure you dont? the next part is "the ants go marching two by two."

heres a song from second grade no one mentioned:
"Perach Yafeh, P'sach es Hapeh,
Mishamayim Geshem Ba,
Shisay es Hamayim, Mishamayim,
V'al Tishkach Lomar Todah!
Todah!"

The second verse of this is:

She asked her mother, mother, mother
For 50 pence, pence, pence (well we said pence instead of cents ha ha)
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump over the fence, fence, fence.

Then it's:
They jumped so high, high, high
They reached the sky, sky, sky
And they didn't come back, back, back ....

We sang a lot of playground chants, looking back some of them were not quite what 6 year olds should be singing but we didn't see any harm at the time.
Here are the ones I can remember, there were definitely more though ...

My boyfriend gave me an apple
My boyfriend gave me a pear
My boyfriend gave me a kiss on the lips
And threw me down the stairs

I threw him over London.
I threw him over France

I threw him over the Eiffel Tower
And he lost his underpants

I gave him back the apple,
I gave him back the pear
I gave him back the kiss on the lips
And he threw me down the stairs.

He threw me over London.
He threw me over France

He threw me over the Eiffel Tower
And I lost my underpants

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

School dinners, school dinners
Concrete chips, concrete chips
Soggy semolina, soggy semolina
I feel sick
Toilet quick
It's too late
I threw-up on my plate
Here's some more
I threw-up on the floor
Here's the rest
I threw-up down my vest

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

One fine day
In the middle of the night
Two dead men
Got up to fight
Back to back
They faced each other
Drew their swords
And shot each other

A deaf policemen
Heard the noise
And ran round the corner
To save the dead boys

If you don't believe this story it's true
Ask the blind man
He saw it too

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ring-a-ring-a-roses
A pocket full of poseys
Atishoo
Atishoo
We all fall down

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1-2-3-4-5
Once I caught a fish alive
6-7-8-9-10
Then I let it go again
Why did you let it go?
'Coz it bit my finger so
Which finger did it bite?
This little pinky on my right

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

[insert name] and [insert name] kissing in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love
Then comes marriage
Then comes the baby in a baby carriage

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Build a bonfire, build a bonfire Put the teachers on the top Put old [insert name of head] in the middle And burn the bloody lot

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Georgie Porgie pudding and pie
Kissed the girls and made them cry
When the boys came out to play
Georgie Porgie ran away
