Ok, do people seriously buy multiple pairs of shoes for a 1 or 2 or even 4 year old to match different outfits???? They grow out of them so quickly and I don't like buying cheap shoes for kids. I get ONE pair of shoes plus maybe crocs for summer/tisha b'av. Maybe sneakers for older kids and girls might get a pair of shabbos shoes.

I was wondering the same thing. I buy my kids 1 pair of weekday shoes and 1 pair of shabbos shoes. In the summer they usually get sneakers and maybe if I find really cheap the younger ones will get sandals. I am definitely not at the point of buying them multiple pairs of shoes. Though I do agree, shoes can sometimes pull together or ruin the look of an outfit. Oh well, it's just too bad. As they get older I'm sure they will start asking for multiple pairs (so far I have all girls) but why start earlier than necessary. Although, maybe if money were no issue and then I would buy more than 1. But for most people that just isn't the reality.

ETA: I actually know someone who bought her daughter shoes (for shabbos) first and then coordinated all her shabbos outfits to match the shoes. To each their own.

You posted this top as a suggestion for someone. What color pants would you match with this?

Sorry! I'm trying to get to everybody. It takes time and I can only do it from my computer. I actually thought of some ideas for you. I will try to get to a computer soon.

I posted this in the starting thread where Mommy3b2c suggested a navy cardigan but how will then the neck be closed? Or how will it layer over those short sleeves? Then amothers said shells. The color blue, mustard or ivory are not going that nice. I tried a marroon color, will this make it too casual? Here is the dress,

I am not sure what you mean by the neck being closed, but you can do a sleeveless navy shell under the dress, and the cardigan over the dress. The cardigan should be be worn all the way open. If you don't like those ideas, then do a plain navy shell underneath. If you add a color, it will ruin the look.

Mommy3b2c, thanks so much for all your ideas. Curious what color hair bow you'd recommend with this dress? It's a light black with small threads of red, orange, yellow, white and green, and the collar is off white. Should the bow be black or off white? Or something else?

And I assume black tights and shoes?

I actually think you should bring in a color for the bow. Pick one of the colors running through the dress. It's hard for me to see them in the picture. Tights should be grey if it matches. If not, then black.

Can you help? I'm looking for Shabbos shoes, dark gray or black for EU 32 and 34 (American size 13 1/2 and 2) for someone on a tight budget.

Thanks!

Hi mommy3b2c. It's really nice that you're taking your time to help everyone here clothe their little princes and princesses properly for yom tov. If you have an extra moment, I'd appreciate your help, too.
My little girl is almost 2, but she's very skinny. Pants she needs size 18 months for the length, and I usually end up taking it in so its not too wide (I don't like when leggings are baggy...) For tops and sweaters she's somewhere between 9 & 12 months, depending on the company and style (sometimes even 6 mo), but it has to be long enough because she's not short, just skinny. I have one new outfit for her- a mustard cardigan, mustard leggings and a floral shirt with blues, greens, brown and a bit of mustard in it.
I need another outfit for her, not too similar to the one I have, I guess, and I'm on a really tight budget...
Also, wherever I order from needs to have some sort of return policy because it's not always easy to estimate her size just from seeing something.
TIA!

OK I can't post pictures because the clothes are hand-me-downs not bought online, and I can't be busy with images right now, but both of my kids' wardrobes for the upcoming season seem very heavily black with a little gray for variety. I was thinking maybe I can do shells in an accent color to liven them up a little. Think that would work? And if so, what color? Their shoes happen to be bright colors but more on the springy side. It was the only thing in the store that fit them. The turning-6-year-old has coral colored shoes, she's the one with the most black dresses problem. The 4-year-old has a kind of mint green color, but her clothes don't need as much help. Are coral or mint OK for fall/winter? I wonder if I can even find them in stores anymore... I'm a cheapskate so thinking along the lines of basic colors or if I can find anything cheap online.

On a related note, anyone have a tip where to buy shells on the cheap? Doesn't need to be "shells" shells, any nice t-shirt would do. I used to use Children's Place layering tees but they changed to be awful quality with really wide necks so now I'm lost as my stash of the old ones is dying.

The black dresses are a style that really needs a shell, but for some other outfits I could also use a sweater to add a pop of color. Any tips where to find?

Budget for all is "I'd really rather not spend any more money on anything this YT season but if I can change a dumpy outfit into something nice then maybe I'll just do it because who dresses a 5-year-old in all black?"

Crazy8.com has a lot of black and gold outfits. There are cardigans, accessories etc, you can add gold to any black outfit.

Do not do an accent color for shells under dresses. That look is out. Shell should be same color as dress. Do a hair accessory or a necklace same color as shoes to coordinate the look.

My 1 year has the off white fur vest from h and m. What does it go with? A shell? Printed shirt?
