Your all too squeamish.

If I tossed every item my kids through in the toilet, I 'd be thousands of dollars in debt. A little soap and hot water is all you need. I have even fished things out when the toilet water was not clean. Its a little yucky, but a whole lot cheaper then replacing all my nail clippers, glasses, sippy cups, bottles. paci's and so much more.

I only really get upset when they throw my phones in the toilet, that s pretty much a death sentence.

You took the words right out of my mouth, 3.5 (or is it keyboard?) I consider it real bal tashchis to throw out perfectly good items, which need merely be washed (or sterilized if you're so makpid), just because of the yech factor.

OTOH, as someone whose baby has tried numerous times to brush his teeth with the toilet brush, maybe I'm just jaded by toilet water.

Logically you are correct. We all get our hands dirty and unsanitary all the time by using the bathroom, changing a diaper.... and yet we just wash them with soap and water and continue using them, touching food, putting into mouth... So why is this different?

But I would probably still throw out a $1 bottle. Wink
