can I get the recipe for the spareribs?
and the shnitzel looks interesting but seems a patchke. if the recipe isn't an absolute patchke can you post that one as well?

thanks.

The spareribs are really easy. I sprinkle roasted garlic rub spice (for meat) and coarsely ground pepper or seasoned pepper onto the meat, rub it in and let it sit for a half hour. Heat up a non-stick frying pan on med heat and once it's hot put the spareribs in the pan and cover the pan. Check frequently and cook according to taste. For med-rare, cook it for a shorter time, etc. My dh makes these and they are really awesome! He does it during the meal so that they are fresh off the grill!

For the shnitzel, I cut up salami, pastrami, and turkey and fry it in a little bit of oil together with a chopped onion. Add garlic powder and other spices you like. Prepare the shnitzel pieces by pounding them thin. Place a heaping Tbsp or 2 (accdg to size of piece) and roll up the shnitzel so that the deli is in the center. Dip the whole thing in egg and then in seasoned breadcrumbs. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 180/350 for about 30 minutes, until chicken is no longer pink. For the last 10 min, spread a layer of either store bought mango sauce (similar to duck sauce) or homemade one on top of the shnitzel rolls.

Just wanted to tell you that lately (I've been using a different oven) I find that 1.5 hours is too much for the gefilte fish (skin from gefilte fish puffs up, and when it cools, it kind of busts back down and doesn't look very pretty - never used to have this issue in my previous oven.)
So check on your loaf after 1 hour and 15 minutes.

I want to make "Mt Sinai" cookies for Shavuot. I was at a fancy non-kosher ( :-( ) event and they had what looked like Magic Cookie Bars in the shape of hills. Has anyone ever done this? I want to try this. Is there a Chalav Yisrael version of sweetened condensed milk (one of DD's good friends is Chabad)?

My worry about making these into "mountains" is how will I know that enough sweetened condensed milk got to the inside of the coconut and that it is not all dry and flakey inside?

For those who do not know...Magic Cookie Bars
in a 9x13 pan melt one stick of marg or butter and mix with graham cracker crumbs to make a crust (push down, etc.) pour a bag of coconut over (maybe it is a half bag). Pour broken pieces of pecans over. pour a bag of semi-sweet choc. chips over that. Pour one can of sweetened condensed milk over the top. Bake at 350 until top is golden. do not over-bake best if eaten while still warm and gooey but good in any condition.

I'm making dairy every meal cuz I love dairy and now I have an excuse to make it all the time!
1st night:
french onion soup
basil/garlic salmon (delish recipe!)
fettucini alfredo
potato berekas
moroccan cigars
potato pastilles
caesar salad

1st day:
going away for the meal but bringing penne a la vodka (also an awesome recipe)

2nd night:
pureed vegetable soup
homemade falafel
pesto pasta

2nd day:
lasagna
salad (my guest is bringing. don't know what kind)

not sure what else yet for the 2nd day. I have a guest coming for shavuos who hates fish so I'm only making it the first night. DH won't eat quiche. and DS is allergic to nuts and peanuts. any ideas?
also not sure yet about desserts. I'll probably just buy a cheesecake. I'm not so into baking. love cooking. not baking.
