I brought my parents along for the first date, is that considered a deal breaker?

My friend went out with a real winner...
They were on a date, and this was one of their many disturbing conversations:
Guy: Do you want a drink?
Friend: Sure, thanx!
Guy: OK, go get one.
Friend: Oh...ummm....ok... *friend starts to walk towards the drinks*
Guy: Aren't you going to ask me if I also want one?

Yikes!
In retrospect, such guys are doing you a favor by showing their true colors right off the bat rather than putting on a good show just long enough for you to say "I do". (so to speak)

I have a friend who, on a shidduch, after sitting down with drinks, the guy says "who should pay for the drinks?", so she said "How about I pay for mine and you pay for yours" which they did. After paying he said "so where do you want to go next?" Her response " I'll go to my house and you go to yours".

I went out with a guy very much older than me ie: quite a bit more than 10yrs (I was VERY young). I was very naive and innocent (and now thinking back perhaps a little clueless) I asked him WHY he would want to go out and or marry someone so young at his age. Really I was just curious no bad feelings intended at all. Boy did he change the conversation quickly
In my defense though, he had lied about his age, and so had everyone we asked about him. We figured out thay something was fishy and confronted the shadchan and found out the day I was supposed to go out with him. Guess it was a deal breaker on both sides. |
Hmm - was this in Israel? We knew a guy who was serial offender in this matter and when he was was pushing 40 was still trying to get set up with the same 20 year-olds. I have to say though that when someone would ask dh or me, we told the truth.

I once went out with someone who spent the whole first date telling me how he had trouble making friends all through school. I don't know why he was telling me this, but lets just say it was a total deal breaker.

- one guy on two consecutive dates turned the wrong way on a one-way street in manhattan!!!
- one guy said "yeh - girls only like to eat salads'. that scared me off, coz I sure dont get full from just eating salads!!! (obviously that wasnt the deal breaker, but it sure helped..)

I went out with this guy to eat. After the meal, he wouldn't leave. I kept saying "shouldn't we be going" and "are you planning on ordering something else", but no dice. He was not going. At one point I got my purse and stood up. He kept talking. They started vacuuming the restaurant and turned off the lights. I kept saying, "we should go now" and he answered "we paid for the meal, we can sit here as long as we want." Only after I finally said "you stay here then, I'm calling a taxi" he jumped up and said "why would you do that?"
