not quite on topic but I'm curious - if you're in your 7th month and have gained only 4 pounds, why are pregnant women expected (by their doctors) to gain about 20 pounds during a pregnancy (not just 4 by the 7th month)? Is it completely unnecessary to gain that much? |
It depends on how overweight you are. The 20 pounds is based on a thin person. The baby can gain weight from the moms storage and the mom doesn't need to gain as much.

I know of someone (a friend's father-in-law) who died due to lap-band surgery. I think the dr cut a renal artery, or something like that. It was really sad, he was only in his late 50's.
Unfortunately, this surgery can still have serious risks.
