Divorced parents under the Chuppah (Chassidish wedding)

I married off a stepdaughter and a daughter. My SD was walked down by my DH's parents. I walked my daughter down with my machateniste, and my ex walked my SIL down with the mechutan.

I asked a shaila beforehand

Yes, it is a custom, not halacha.

My parents are divorced and by my wedding it was suggested I choose a married couple to walk me to the chuppah. In the end, I walked alone.

I think that is sad. I don't know if its halacha but the inyan to be escorted to the chuppah is definitely stronger than the kabbalistic inyan that it be a married couple in their first marriage. There are communities where the minhag is that the kallah is escorted by her friends
