well it's sort of both ...if you're going to pinch someone's cheeks ... you gotta know to be gentle ... it's when people forget and pinch a little too hard that I have a problem ... oy you're so cute ... then if it hurts & I say ouch @#$%^& = they stop so I miss the fondness but not the ouchy

if I ever pinch anybody - it could hardly be called a pinch - a gentle squish

Ouch, greenfire, did you hve to remind me? I must be an amazingly resilient person because I'd completely forgotten about the childhood trauma of having my chubby cheeks pinched. Some of those people were sadists. I say this without an ounce of sarcasm. When they grab and twist as if they're taking challah, that's sadism pure and simple. I've long since forgiven my mother for not protecting me--assertiveness wasn't considered a virtue in women when she was growing up in the 1930s and 40s--but you better believe I kept my eyes peeled when my kids were small. The ones who pinch the hardest unfortunately tend to be the ones who pounce the fastest, so sometimes the deed is done before you can react. There oughtta be a law...

I do like to think so. If you can't be gorgeous, being cute is the next best thing. Maybe better: guys are often intimidated by gorgeous girls and don't ask them out, but cute is approachable.
