Very cultural thing, if you'll say ILU to anyone or just to a spouse.
By me ILU is very loaded, many people will say ILU so much or I adore you to a kid but never ILU.

reminds me of when I was 9 we had a neighbor who looked a LOT like my father (especially from the back in the dark) and one Friday night he was walking home from Shul down my block and me, thinking it was my father, jumped on his back!! Thankfully he was really nice about it and laughed but I was mortified!!
Also a few years ago at work I picked up the phone and answered "Good afternoon ______, how can you help me?"

Once at a kiddush in shul my neighbor rubbed DH's arm and said -Are you ready to go home dear? She realized immediately that it wasn't her husband when DH said - OK with me, but I don't know what my wife will say about that Very Happy

- We're very good friends so we all laugh about it but I bet she always double checks now anytime she walks up to her husband in a crowd

I once came into office and computers were down so we had to wait til it was fixed, w hich would take a while.
I wrote a text to DH telling him what's going on and wrote" I wish I could have stayed home and spent more time with you"... and sent it to my BOSS (Hasidic - male)!!!

AKWARD. And uncomfortable.

Since then I always look twice as soon as I begin to type a text.

Recently, I thought I was the only one in the office and called DH, before I hung up I said "love you babes"... and 5 minutes later heard someone in the conference room who probably heard me...
