I've done the pull over the car routine ... only it was with my own kids on a road trip ... yeah they got scared enough to behave - didn't have a book though - probably said tehillim praying that they behave so I could drive ...
alas we're way past that stage - now I drive them crazy

"Can't", or "won't"? Why are you letting a child bully YOU like that? You are supposed to be the grownup in charge of the car, as well as your child's protector. Where's your Mama Bear instincts?
Those kids are never going to respect you if you don't respect yourself first.
