Fluden update:

So u made it and it looked the same but my grandfather said the texture of the dough was former than he remembers and there were prunes (I used dates thinking he made a mistake since all the recipes called for dates).

After discussing it with my mother we think the dough was softer bec it was baked overnight - covered so most likely the juices kept the dough moist, whereas I baked it uncovered for about 45 mins.

But my grandfather did say it was delicious!! And him and my grandmother ate half of it already!! Smile

ETA: he also said the dough was rolled thinner and I tried getting it as thin as possible but obviously not thin enough. Hoping to try a new version after sukkot since he's going away for the second days. BEzH.

What if you just made hand pies with a prune filling?

I'm not so sure about hand pies. I think he was hoping to have that taste from when he was little.

Also, sorry if I was u clear, I put in apples, raisins, and dates (plus cinnamon and sugar). The dates were suppose to be prunes.
