Do you eat two Seudos on Purim too? And a seudah on Hoshana Raba? Because I believe it's all related.

We also have two meals. And we are not chassidish. Its because its a mitzva to eat on erev yom kippur.

Never heard of having two meals either. Yeshivish litvish.
What time are you all eating meal #1? We have seduas hamafsekes already around 4.

Right, that's what I used to do before I got married. After we got married my husband asked to have two seudot. I don't know if he knew it was a minhag or just liked the idea. And we do have a seuda on hoshana rabba as well.

I don't think hoshana rabba is a chassidish minhag. Yekkes don't do it (so my parents never used to until recently) though I think that most litvish people I know do have it.

I am also not chassidish. We do two meals. I think one if the reasons is that the 2 meals we have on erev Yom Kippur should be for the 2 meals we would have on Yom Kippur as a Yom Tov, if it were not a fast.

Shabbos leftovers for before the fast, milchig leftovers from tonight for after the fast.
I have a toilet training toddler and a nursing infant at home so I'm trying to minimize the work as much as possible.

Interesting. We definitely have a hoshana raba seuda. Not so much two seudot on Purim.
But DEFINITELY kreplach at all 3

We eat lunch seuda at around 12pm (2 hour get together with extended family - very nice seeing everyone and giving brachos before YK) and dinner sit down as seudas hamafsekes at home probably at 5pm.

No just one seuda toward the end of purim day. Though we do eat a sit down seuda for lunch on hoshana rabba. All of these are very informal. Family get together time.

First “meal”- no washing/bread
Salmon
Salad
Seudah Hamafseket (around 4, if DH gets home on time)
Challah
Salad
Maybe fish
Chicken soup with and matza balls
Roast beef
Broccoli and cauliflower mix
Cinnamon cake
Herbal tea
We eat throughout the day, but only wash once.
Is it considered a meal only if you wash?

Please double check though, because I could be wrong and it may just be a minhag. I thought the reason was because fish causes thirst and fish can have bones and you don't want a bone to get stuck or something right before Yom Kippur. I vaguely recall learning this but my brain is a bit mushy so not sure. |
Never heard of this. In past always did meat or chicken but DH has requested a lighter last meal so I thought fish would be good.
Any others hold this way? Is this something I should ask my rabbi about?

There is actually an inyan to serve fish at the first Seuda in the morning but I'm not really familiar with sources or if it's even an issue or not. It could simply be a minhag.

I did last year. They came out good but it was time consuming. This year I bought them.
