One of the first things I usually do is to see how close I can get the 2 digit number to the end result. I'll multiply it by one of the numbers, and then work with it from there. Sometimes that doesn't work at all, so I have to come up with other combinations.

The one that I just posted is a perfect example of using the 2-digit number:

I multiplied 43x(5+4), since in my head I felt that would give me the closest answer to 397. I was correct, as it came out to 387. Now I just need 10 more, and I got that easily by adding 8+2.

Like yy said, it's all about trial and error, but sometimes the answer is really easy to get, other times it's pretty difficult.

I'll post a new problem, since I just solved the last one here:
