This reminds me of my post-Holocaust paranoia of always having working passports for my family, and how they would technically be useless these days. The truth is, we have a lot less control over life and our future than we think we do. It's scary.

Yes... we rely on a safe familiar world, infrastructure being in place, travel a possibility at the click of a mouse... when it’s gone you realize your passports and credit cards are basically junk, useless...

I’m scareder.
There are no ECMO machines in Ukraine.
There are no flights out.
My mother can’t come.
As of the 17th, no one can leave or enter.

Well, it’s not clear how, but it seems they’re limiting travel between Kyiv and other places. I guess cancelling trains. As for cars, I don’t know. Road blocks? Check points?
Restaurants are closed, except for takeout. Grocery stores and pharmacies are open.
I was able to order some hand sanitizer through friends. Black market, whoo!

I agree I think this is the main lesson this virus has come to teach us. With all the technology, peace, and prosperity of our era we started to feel like we continue the universe. This virus is bringing us back decades as far as civil liberties and security go. No matter how far humanity has advanced Hashem is reminding us that He runs the world. I hope the lesson is learned with as little damage possible.
