I really wanted to see the Wedding Planner, but I can't find it anywhere. It looked hilarious. Links?

It's also called "Through the wall". Maybe that will show up somewhere?

It's called through the wall indeed in English and I have found it multiple times online. I really liked the movie.

It's by Naama Burstein, the breslover filmmaker who did "fill the void"

about a single woman, around 30, who decides to set a wedding date, plan a wedding, but without having a chatan...

the woman is something between MO and hareidi, but a bit original in lifestyle, not run of the mill.

I found this movie horrible, quite demeaning to single women...

found it truly horrible too, happy to find someone who agrees!

Not Unorthodox but THE Unorthodox is a fictionalized documentary about the founding of the Shas party. It's actually very funny and thoughtful.

I agree, too. And for all those people who put down Disney princesses because it's about the girls waiting to be swept off their feet by prince charming...this movie is EXACTLY like that, but on steroids. Except it has a religious twist to it, so that makes it even harder to stomach. At least with Disney you know its just a fluffy fantasy and is pure escapism. This was grim and bleak, so it didn't even have that saving grace. I truly hated it.

It's not The Wedding Planner, which is a different, secular film, but The Wedding Plan. I highly recommend both The Wedding Plan and The Women's Balcony. Clean chick flicks, what a delight!

Uh, what's a "frum style" movie? Is it like "kosher style" food--not kosher but pretending to be by not serving meat actually cooked in milk?

The Wedding Plan is the movie I was referring to. She demeaned and degraded herself, to get married. And just what was so great about the guy she married that made it worth it? He was up on some pedestal while she figuratively had to grovel in desperation, waiting for him to come swooping in and save the day. Other than him being male and being willing to marry her just what made him so great, that made it worth her humiliation? He didn't have to do a single thing to prove himself worthy except be pretty. The whole movie made my stomach hurt.

Srugim is good. And actually realistic.

My daughter is watching a show that’s running now called בת השוטר the policeman’s daughter about a teen who witnessed a murder and is sent to hide out with a chareidi family (in Bnei Brak). She loves it. I can’t imagine there are English subtitles and I’m pretty sure she’s watching pirated episodes. But if you have access to Sdarot - you might enjoy this.
