How old is the daughter who needs to be escorted?

If she is a minor, I think between the ages of 14 and 18 (check with the airline), then you can pay an extra escort fee. The airline staff will make sure that she gets on the plane, is OK during the flight, gets off the plane, and meets an authorized person who can collect her. She's accounted for every step of the way.

That way, she can fly by herself, and you won't have to worry about you getting quarantined. She'll still have to quarantine herself on arrival, unless the US changes their policies.

Yes, I have noticed that. What we call lockdown they call quarantine.

They have no way of determining what state someone came from so until the whole usa has this under control we will unfortunately be banned from many international destinations. If you have the time and funds you can stop for 14 days in Croatia where you will not need to quarantine and then continue on to israel.

OP it doesn't make sense, sorry. The whole world has lost its collective sh*t over Corona and our freedom is the victim.

Where are the Patrick Henry's of the world?

I agree, it’s so arbitrary. My son is in a capsule with 6 other boys, why 6 and not 3? Or 30? Whole situation is so ridiculous

Certainly not in Israel which is a socialist country. Not an American democracy🤦‍♀️

Because 3 would require twice the staff, and 30 would increase the risk of infection by a factor of over 100? (yes, 100)

Sounds logical enough to me.

With "and" replacing "or".

Boys in his yeshiva are all coming from NY where we are averaging 500 cases a day for the last 2 months in a city that has twice the amount of people then in the entire State of Israel. The whole thing is a joke, I’m sorry.

They should allow them all to present a negative Covid test and then let them be. The madness has to stop.

But they have to quarantine, once they arrive, no?

Are you aware that exactly the same limitations are imposed on the Israeli students? Before the boys returned to yeshiva on Rosh Chodesh, they all had to show a negative Corona test. Now they are also in capsules, which will be expanded after the initial two weeks are up, and not allowed to leave campus or go home.

No one is forced to come to yeshiva (or seminary). Those who do, value learning Torah, and are prepared to put up with irksome restrictions that are the only way the yeshiva is permitted to open. Anyone who doesn't want to, doesn't have to come. The Israelis have a lot more to complain about, not even being allowed a Shabbos at home, but the chutzniks are making a lot more fuss.

Maybe they are in the US, like the original Patrick Henry.

This is Israel; we have our own laws, and we expect visitors to obey them, whether they agree with them or not.

Yeah, I'm realizing that quarantine means imprisonment.

I havent seen my daughter for almost 2 years, and she recently gave birth. Her dh cant fly now. So I just wanted to go, help her and fly back with her. but I guess I should forget about it Banging head

Second - case tracking. I'm not in quarantine right now because in the past 14 days, I haven't been nearby to anyone later confirmed as having the coronavirus. If it turns out that I was near a coronavirus patient, I'll have to quarantine for 14 days (since contact).

I dont get it. Are they taking each of these new 1500 daily cases and tracking exactly where they were the week or 2 before? And making everyone who was in contact with them quarantine? That would be practically the whole country, no?

Tracking is done via cell phone tracing. If you (or your cell phone) were within two metres of someone who tests positive for fifteen minutes or more, you are required to enter bidud for two weeks from the time of contact. Under certain conditions it is possible to appeal. They also use cell phone tracking, among other things, to ensure that people maintain bidud.

For a symptomatic case, contacts go back four days before symptoms began. For an asymptomatic case, contacts go back ten days before the positive test. Anyone who has had Corona and recovered is not required to enter bidud again. That's a summary of an exceedingly long document on the matter.

Being in and out of bidud does happen quite frequently. One of my colleagues had children in and out of bidud on an almost constant basis over the summer. She was wishing the whole family could just get it and recover, so they wouldn't have to worry about bidud any more.

You can't go to your daughter for five days. If you are able to take a longer period, you can do the two weeks bidud, and then spend as long as you want with her. Including flying back to America with her, if she wants. She would have to go through bidud again when she got back here, though.

It's hard. We're all suffering. It's almost a year since my father saw any of his grandchildren, and he is going to have to spend the chagim alone for the first time since my mother was niftar. That's just the way things are.

And how is it all working out? With all the rules in place Israel still has 1000 more cases a day then NY.

Bottom line is nobody knows how the virus works and how it spreads.

And by the way, Israel is home to all Jews and my children are following the quarantine rules. I’m allowed to voice my opinion that I think it’s useless and ridiculous, you are entitled to your own opinion.

You are entitled to an opinion. But by choosing to come to Israel, you are required to follows Israel's laws, regardless of your opinion.

And what we have gained from these laws, is a death rate below a thousand, despite the currently high level of new diagnoses.

Much higher infection rate per Capita then the US. I like how you cherry picked the death rate. How does the quarantine help the death rate of those already sick?

It helps stop the spread of new infections.

It helps us avoid overwhelming the hospitals.

Whether or not you agree with the policy, if you want to be greeted with open arms you will need to respect it.

And, just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's illogical.
