I am very high risk, and I am using Healthy Women OBGYN which delivers at Jersey Shore, in combination with the MFM at Jersey Shore, PNI. What I like about this combination is that Healthy Women OBGYN is very accessible (offices in Jackson, Freehold, and Tinton Falls), and they work really well together with MFM and other specialists. So in my case, they are in touch with MFM and my cardiologist, hematologist, pulmonologist... And make decisions based on that. There are five main doctors who do deliveries, all female. One of them, Dr. Frasca used to work at Beth Israel, and she is my main doctor.

In terms of NICU, Jersey Shore has a level III NICU. The only Level IV NICU in NJ is at St. Joseph in Paterson. If a Level IV NICU is needed, the options are to transfer to St. Joseph, Columbia, or CHOP.

This sounds really good. Jackson is the most convenient for me. Anyone else have experience with this practice and can weigh in?

Do they do everything in the office (routine blood work, sonograms etc?)

They do blood work in the office. The big sonograms are done at the MFM at Jersey Shore (PNI). Depending on what the issues are will determine how often you go to the two locations.

abdelhak currently charges 9k total for lakewood area patients. includes sonograms. jersey care/other insurance take care of of the labwork, and hospital deductibles etc.
his partner ratzdorfer is awesome. they both did my prev csection together. their expertise was superb. never dealt with the women so don't know anything about them - 1 came to visit me in the hospital my prev baby to check in. seemed nice. I see razdorfer or abdelhak by all appts and my csection is scheduled so I get the 2 dr's together.

He charges 13k for twins. If you have a horizon omnia plan this does not include bloodwork (he’s out of network so that’s a huge issue) and doesn’t include any hospital fees. It does include all sonograms and appointments (urine blood pressure etc) and delivery aside from what the hospital will bill... could run over 20k.

I used a group of midwives for many births. One pregnancy had complications so I was in touch with their collaborating doctors which are Healthy Women. I ended up needing a c- section last minute and was very happy with the practice. (Bedside manner, healed well, was able to have vbac after etc)

Just adding my 2 cents. Me and my 2 sisters and 1 sil use/used RWJ. I would not call them a high risk practice. They are cautious and the doctors are good for the most part but if u need a high risk doctor, get that. Rwj isn’t that...

People compare them but they are really not so comparable. Abdelhak is MFM, exceptionally skilled and qualified. Would only go to him for C sections. Not letting anyone else cut me. He's a malach.

Dr. Berghella is fantastic in Thomas Jefferson hospital. He’s and mfm dr. It’s an hour and 10 min from Lakewood, and don’t have to deal with the city traffic. Also takes insurance.

barnett delivered me and she was AMAZING!!! I was really thrilled with that experience

they acutally just got a new dr- dr weeks. I had one appt with him after I gave birth and he was actually super nice

I agree with the above, aside for the malach category.
