That’s a little strange.. I don’t care if it’s the same or not but why on earth would someone do that? I’m Ayala and would never even name my kid Ayelet or Ariella even though they have nothing to do with the name Ayala. Fradel and Fraida is even worse.

Because they are naming after a family. I also have a cousin Raizy with a daughter Roizel.

Sorry it’s still weird. Just like some of the other examples people brought. There’s no mandatory halacha to give these names.

Weird as it may be. Halacha as it may not be, people do it!! You don't have to...

So people should suffer without naming for family?

Is that what causes people suffering? More likely to suffer with an ugly name.

Even if it's not same name, even if people do it, it's a bit confusing. My mom is Perry, my brother who has a name Dov, was not called Berry like others in family with this name. My mom rather called him on his other name, as she didn't want it to be confusing.

Yenta and some are named after her as well, all doing fantastic.
I heard the name was common and a nice connotation until Fiddler on the Roof came along...

Not all, just some. It's the yiddish version and sometimes, there's already a Yehuda in the family etc and they're told to call the yiddish version.
