I’ve been doing this for a few years.

I have an iPhone with WhatsApp, banking, email, Amazon etc. I have no service on it, just use my home wifi.

And I have a flip phone with just talk and text.

It’s been about 5 years now since I switched to this setup and I love it! When I’m out of my house I’m not distracted by notifications. My family and close friends know to text me (not WhatsApp) for a quicker response.

Once you get used to it you'll be fine. I do all my banking, amazon, etc stuff on my computer (heavily filtered but let's in what I need it for) and I have a kosher phone, no text. I don't feel deprived, I'm still part of the world and can function in it. We're not missing out. If anything we're missing IN because I make eye contact and chat with my kids and don't have a niggling need to look at my phone all the time..
