For those in America that use jellyfish, where have you been buying them? The companies here have stopped making them pretty long ago.

Of course. That’s what we use. That’s what we used growing up as well. I tell my kids it’s מנהג אבותינו. They don’t think this counts 😀

I grew up in England, but we called them jelly fish.

As opposed to jellyfish, which apparently are edible, but definitely treif.

Jelly Belly brand makes them

You can also use TJ's Scandinavian Swimmers and choose the fish from them.

It’s actually in our family tradition to teach kids on Rosh Hashana to NOT be grossed out by fish heads…
Would be nice though to get jelly fish…
Anywhere in Israel we can get it?

Am I the only one who has to buy two fish heads because my boys fight over who gets to eat the eye?

Fish head is not a halacha. I can’t find one and I’m not planning to go to every store within a 5 mile radius, so will probably use the Trader Joe’s ones. No one eats the fish head anyway, so either way people say the Yehei Ratzon w no Shem Hashem etc.
Shehechiyanu isn’t made on a fish head, it’s made on a fruit.

Got in gourmet glatt yesterday. Had to buy the repackaged gg brand though. Couldn't find a regular package.

The simanim are not halacha at all like you said, so these threads asking what can be used bums me out. Do what you like or what your family does and know there is no right or wrong way to do it, and also that you don't have to do simanim at all.

There's no Halacha about this, just minhag. I did buy a whole fresh fish (bronzino) which I make for RH (in a pesto sauce, oven-broiled), but my girls don't touch it. You can say the Yehi Ratzon and you don't have to eat from it! But DH enjoys the fish I make very much, and I find this particular one to be less fishy/smelly.

Jelly Belly makes them, and I got a package of Gedilla ones at Kosher West a couple of days ago.

We've always called them jelly fish!

My boys used to do this too! They grew out of it but my younger daughter insists on telling everyone that her brothers eat the fish eye. I keep telling her to quit it or she'll ruin their chances at shidduchim. LOL
