Our 5 year old wakes us up so often, it’s getting ridiculous. He’ll wake us up for no reason, or a made up reason. This is in middle of the night or very early morning. I am so tired! He’s 5, he’s old enough to understand not to wake us up but nothing I have said has helped. I end up being so snappy with him because I’m tired and upset because I blame him for it.
Any ideas?
Ps, he has toys and books in his room to entertain himself but he doesn’t use it. He has a red light in his room and he knows he shouldn’t come out till it’s green but he ignores it.
Please help!

I don't want to know where you live but if it started now and you are an areas that the clock was switched it can affect children
Is this something that has been going on ever since then maybe evaluate it with the pediatrician for issues like ent sleep apnea and large tonsilsm
Are you putting him to sleep too early
Can it be pin worms?
Is his room too hot or too cold
Is he waking up for the toilet? might be from Eating drinking too close to bedtime...?
Children that have ADHD or are on the Spectrum also suffer from sleep issues
When all this has been evaluated it is likely that it is just Behavioral and you need to address that too
Good luck trying to figure it out

I have the same exact thing with my 5 year old. The only thing I tried that worked was to make a star chart let's say for 5 days, and before we started she picked a prize that she wanted and we put a picture of it on bottom of the star chart, and every night that she doesn't come out of bed she gets a sticker. It worked very nicely and kind of broke the habit after a while
