Huh?
I always think, how un-balabusta-ish do you need to be to spend 3 months cooking for 1 week. Or even 1 month cooking for 1 week.

Unless you’ll be out of commission before yom tov, what’s the point?

Do you cook for sukkos before the summer?

Where did you get Pesach chicken already? Most butchers turn over their kitchen right after purim

I would love to cook now.
Don't have a pesach kitchen though.
If I cook now, I can leave cleaning for later and then not have to stress over keeping the cleaned rooms clean. Also turn over a bit later.

What the kneidlach?! Even if I did have a pesach kitchen why would I hyper focus on one week two months in advance?! Oyy talk to me after Rosh chodesh Nissan (about the cleaning).

The matzah is in my freezer already. Salt water too. The rest is no big deal.

I’m making a simcha erev Pesach and I have a Pesach kitchen so I do plan to start early. Like a day after Purim or so. When the store have Pesachdik ingredients.

Not now. What for? And if I stock up my freezer with Pesach things where will I keep my challah and cakes for the next 2 and a half months?

Truth is if there are Pesach ingredients available a week before Purim I’d consider cooking then. But that’s probably the earliest I’d go.

Most butchers I shop at are KFP all year round. What are they selling that's chametz?

Mine sell pre-breaded cutlets, patties with other ingredients, etc. When I asked a Rav he said not to use the roasts I had in the freezer for Pesach (without a KLP) but to buy new. (We used them for Shavuos instead.)

I will bake for pesach probably like two weeks before but cooking food will be night before/Erev/on yt. Unless I get bored and do it earlier. Iyh will be on maternity leave.
I bake before cleaning. Cleaning is a few days before.

Why all the poking fun?
It’s quiet time now. Why not cook and bake if you have time now that you won’t have later? Assuming you can get hold of the ingredients.

Yes, pesach is only one week but many people have tons of guest staying with them pre-Yom tov. Some people have little kids that will be home closer to pesach.

And yea, I do cook/bake for the Yom Tov season before we go away for the summer. Very Happy

You can't compare sukkos to pesach. A lot of people make everything from scratch for pesach. Also, you have to make three proper meals for 8 days (and a few days before pesach probably) - no easy pasta for dinner, sandwiches for lunch or cereals for breakfast. And don't get me started on the snacks... Not to mention the fact that people often host and need to cook for a crowd.
I totally understand starting 2-3 months in advance, preparing one or two dishes a day and not having to stress before yom tov (AND actually being able to enjoy chol hamoed instead of slaving away in the kitchen all day).

Did I start? Ehm no. I'm aiming for after Purim, but will most likely only start cooking after rosh chodesh Nissan.
