It's then time of year again, when organizations are providing help for families for yom tov. Yet it's the same people that are getting all the help, while the middle class are left floundering with nothing available for us. I think something must change.
I wish that there's something we can do to make change happen that middle class should also be able to get help before yom tov.

Lakewood has the Tzur Foundation that most ravs are in touch with. Let your rav know that you need some help. I think their goal is to not have people go into debt for yom tov.

In Chicago, there is a lot of help where no one asks your income. Its enough to call up and say I need help. If you do that you obviously need it.

It's not only food expenses that middle class need help with.
I think that middle class should also be entitled to get coupons to clothing & shoe stores. And I also think that if the organizations that provide food would allocate their funds & goods better, then more people would be able to get help.

Yes. We live hand to mouth.
To cover matza, wine, chicken, we will put on the credit card. Iyh we will be able to pay it off by June.
Its hard especially because I get paid per diem so I lose income half of April.
But we are not buying ANY clothing until after Pesach. We just cant afford it.
Im davening for a cold Pesach because all we have are warm sweaters and long sleeve shirts (last summers stuff are too small or trash).
We need tights and stockings to make it through Pesach so credit card it will be.

How do you want them to manage funds and goods better? What does this mean?

Totally agree that places need to help more. Unfortunately too many people "game" the system, dont really need it, and get from multiple organizations. So there is nothing left for anyone else.
I am technically poor now. We lost 1 income so after rent, daycare, health insurance, taxes, gas for the car and other actual necessities (My car is old, not leased, not big enough for family)--- we have no money. Not talking about food, clothing etc here.
We got Tomchei but honestly it is still a struggle. All these Purim collections and no one offered us help even though I said we can use some help.
It all goes to local kollel families. This isn't to bash kollel but every organization or shul seem to give first to kollel and not to the working poor. So the kollel wives have new outfits, jewelry, kids have new matching clothing... even the toddler has Shabbos shoes. My kids don't because "we work".
They even look down on me because my toddler doesn't have shabbos shoes. Why, don't you prioritize Shabbos shoes for a 2 year old!?! One even commented how she wanted to give me her old hand me downs because "I dont care about fashion" and wouldn't mind it is 3 years old. Or why don't I serve XYZ or have 4 course meals or 2 mains or....
Um I cannot afford it!! Would love to but rent comes first. Paying for medication comes first.
How come they are on such a high standard of living that they look down on others?!?
